The effect of the preliminary processing and handling process: harvesting age, harvesting method, drying and preservation methods on the quality of the medicinal herb Senna tora (L.) Roxb postharvest was studied. The experiments used determine harvest time, evaluate the pretreatment and storage of Semen Sennae torae. Seed of Senna tora (L.) Roxb. were dried by convection drier was preserved ambient temperature. The results showed that harvest time was 70% ripe fruits. Incubating for 2days and using Convection drier was convenient and keeping the sensory quality and retaining aurantio-obtusin content in Semen Sennae torae. The method of preserving Semen Sennae torae the after 12 months by PE 0,02mm, sealed at room temperature maintained better quality than the control: Sensory appearance dark black, shiny, without insects adults, moisture content: 12.0%, active ingredient content aurantio-obtusin reaches 0.18% (attained Hong Kong pharmacopoeia and Vietnamese pharmacopoeia V standards).
